To instantly boost the performance, we switched to a new seperate backup firewall, which should help us during peak times. Additionally we worked on the loadbalancer for our server farm and were able to improve it noticeably. Within the next days we will implement an additional provider for our vods to distribute the growing trafficload to several locations. This will especially help the PREMIUM VoDs!

Dennis' streaming tech not working at all was an error we never encountered before, but additionaly hardware in our studio just died away spontaneously. Basically the perfect day for us, but this shouldn't be your problem. Every paying ESL TV customer will get 2 days credited, so you don't have to pay for our problem. This should happen within the next 24 hours.

Neverending Firewall Stories

The feature im talking about is called SPI, statefull packet inspection. It trys to filter incoming packets by session, so basically only "known" packets are allowed, every other packet will be rejected. Due to the peer to peer characteristics of octoshape, SPI can cause problems.

Often people lose connection or don't even get one to start with and therefore are not able to watch our great program. In theory SPI guarantees extra security, however for a private user a normal firewall without packet inspection is entirely sufficient. So if you are experiencing problems, please turn off SPI in your firewall/router and check if the livestream runs smoothly.

Vod IFNG Oberhausen Fehlerhaft Update

Leider ist die Backupaufnahme erst Montag für uns greifbar. Wir müssen Euch daher um Geduld bitten. Das Vod wird dann gegen Montag Nachmittag/Abend online sein. *Update* Wir haben uns entschieden bis Montag Abend erstmal die Aufzeichnung des Signals Oberhausen -> Köln online zu stellen. Diese Aufzeichnung hat allerdings eine schlechtere Qualität als normale Vods, daher wird es dann Montag nochmal ein Update geben

Firefox 3.6 Problems

The latest Firefox Version and the Adobe Flash plug-in are potentially causing some problems. The plugin stops working and therefore it's not possible to watch any flash videos anymore.

The solution is quite easy though, completely deinstall the flashplugin in the control panel and reinstall it from adobe.com.

And if you have to reinstall flash anyways, we suggest u try the Adobe Flash 10.1 Beta. This update is particularly interesting for users with slow CPUs, as it is introducing GPU acceleration for flash video decoding. Make sure you have the latest graphics card driver if its not working properly.

Eine weitere Neuigkeit dürfte eSports-Freunde vom Land freuen, durch eine intelligente Bandbreiten-Wahl reicht nun auch ein Anschluss mit nur einem Megabit Downloadbandbreite, um den Premiumstream zu genießen.
